Receiving Freight Shipments

Freight Damage & Loss Procedure:

Slingshot has specific freight policies in place to protect our customers when a product is damaged or lost in transit. These procedures must be followed with all freight shipments. Failure to follow these steps will limit our ability to file a freight claim and subsequently replace or credit lost or damaged gear.

Signature at the time of delivery is required:

  •  For ALL freight orders.
    • Note: If you instruct the carrier to leave a shipment without a signature, you are releasing Slingshot and Ride Engine from all liability for lost or damaged product and you will not be able to file a freight claim.

Receiving instructions:

  •  INSPECT: Upon receiving your delivery, inspect each carton carefully and note any form of damage on the Bill of Lading (BOL).
    • Note any marks, holes, carton tears, tire marks, or any other form of damage on the BOL and take pictures of the damage.
    • If there is no time to inspect each carton at the time of delivery to protect yourself from possible concealed damage, write “possible concealed damage, pending full inspection” on the BOL before signing it.
  • COUNT: The BOL will list the carton count. The receiving warehouse (including the warehouse of your Freight Forwarder) must count the cartons before signing the BOL.
    • If shortages are not noted and BOL signed as incomplete, you accept liability for any missing items as Slingshot and Ride Engine will not be able to file a freight claim.
    • Please make sure to note any missing packages and take photos of the pallet showing any damage to shrink wrap, packages missing from the top, etc.
    • PACKAGING: If damage or concealed damage is discovered, please also keep the packaging as the freight company will want to inspect this as part of the claim.
    • REFUSE DELIVERY: If damage is discovered at the time of delivery, you may refuse the product and the package will be returned to the carrier.

If damaged or missing cartons are found, you must submit a warranty freight ticket with our Customer Support team within 5 days of receipt of the shipment so we can file a freight claim with the carrier
